It seems that technology is able to fix anything, and to solve lots of problems. Dr. John McClure, a pathologist in Edina, Minnesota, wanted to learn how to play the bagpipes. However, his friend, the very same person who gave him lessons, moved away, and that complicated things. However, the problem was fixed with the aid of technology, as Dr. McClure is taking lessons from Jori Chisholm, who lives in Seattle, via Skype.
Skype and other similar such programs managed to solve the distance problem on numerous occasions. It seems that one of the areas which benefits the most from the evolution of these programs is the music lessons. Some time ago, students had to go to the houses of the teachers in order to take lessons.
That is no longer the case, because nowadays, they can use the internet in order to take lessons from teachers who are on a different continent. The students benefit from the chance, because they can take lessons from very experienced teachers. Teachers on the other hand, benefit from the fact that they have students.
Gary Ingle, chief executive of the Music Teachers National Association stated that there are many teachers who teach students from various parts of the world. He also stated that there are students who do not take lessons as long as they are online. Of course, the majority of the students prefer the face to face lessons. However, the number of online lessons is on a constant increase.
Jeffrey Thomas, who was a music teacher in Seattle for more than 22 years, is now an online teacher of bass and ukulele. He has more than 30 students from various places of the world. He stated that the internet simplified things for him. He no longer has to worry about traffic, and other similar problems. It seems that the move is accepted and encouraged by the parents as well.
Many of them got tired of taking their children to the music lessons, especially if the distance was very big. As a result they started looking for teachers who had websites, suggesting them to offer lessons via Skype. The main advantage is the fact that the quality of the lessons remained the same. Thanks to the evolution of the technology, the sound quality is impressive, and as a result, both the student and the teacher can hear the sounds very clear.
